What is COVID-19 travel insurance cover?

A travel insurance policy that includes cover for some of the unforeseen COVID-19-related scenarios can help reduce the financial risk of travelling during the coronavirus pandemic. It is common for travel insurance with COVID-19 benefits to include cover for incidents relating to overseas medical expenses, trip amendments and cancellation costs, and additional expenses.

However, policies will vary from provider to provider, so it’s important to understand what you are – and aren’t – covered for when it comes to choosing travel insurance that covers COVID-19.

Does Cover-More provide travel insurance with COVID-19 cover?

We have provided some COVID-19 travel insurance cover since December 2020 to help support our Cover-More New Zealand customers who continued to travel throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

For policies sold on or after 27 April 2022, a number of COVID-19 travel insurance benefits are still available on our premium Options Plan for Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip policyholders; however, our Cover-More COVID-19 coverage varies across our Domestic, International and Inbound Plans.

Note: COVID-19 travel insurance cover is not available on our Essentials Plan (both Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip policies).

Before deciding if our travel insurance with COVID-19 cover is right for you, we recommend you read the Policy Wording and compare our Domestic and International Plans’ COVID-19 cover below. If you have questions or require clarification, please contact us or speak with your financial adviser.
