It’s full of exciting attractions, natural scenery and cultural activities. If you’re after an adventure, then Papua New Guinea is the ultimate destination. The activities are endless, but things you might like to do include trekking to remote jungles, kayaking along the coastline of New Ireland and catching a wave in Vanimo. Vanuatu

Vanuatu – it’s within easy reach and has more to offer than just a cruise ship port and boutique resorts. From relaxing on a private beach, embracing the ancient culture to exploring volcanos and waterfalls, there’re heaps of things you can do in the Pacific Islands. Vanuatu is also known for its world-class snorkelling, so put on a mask and check out the underwater world. It’s a chance for you to get up close and personal with marine life including fish, eels, rays and brightly coloured coral, and last but not least, an actual underwater post box that’s serviced by Vanuatu Post. Seriously, what the? Yes, check it out for yourself.

Samoa

Samoa is blessed with its natural beauty. From volcanoes to jungles and crystal-clear waterfalls, it’s an incredible but highly underrated place. There are many beautiful sites to explore with must-see hot spots including the Piula Cave Pools, To Sua Trench (I’ll keep you wondering and let you Google this one) and Afu Au Waterfalls. If you’re a fan of canned tuna, not to worry – this is Samoa’s most important exported product with tuna fishing and tuna canning being one of the dominant industries.

Gold Coast

The GC has it all – nightlife, shopping and the best beaches in the world. It’s only a few hours by plane and the perfect overseas getaway. Whether it’s a family vacay, romantic getaway or a spontaneous girls’ weekend away, it’s the ultimate destination for Kiwi travellers. The best beaches include Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads or Tallebudgera. Hot tip: the water is flat in Tallebudgera, so be sure to try stand-up paddle boarding. We also recommend doing a day-trip to the beautiful hinterlands including O’Reilleys, Mount Tambourine and Springbrook.

Gold Coast

Don’t delay your trip any further and head to one of these destinations for the ultimate escape. Even though you’ll probably come back to a letterbox full of bills (and not underwater), at least you can say you’ve been on an overseas holiday this year, and you’ll have the Instagram snaps to prove it. Treat yourself!
